About Us

Penmorfa Playmates is a registered charity that offers places for children aged two to school age.

We offer childcare for all children regardless needs. We work with the relevant authorities to ensure that all children’s needs are met. We provide a stimulating, safe, friendly and caring environment within the Ysgol Penmorfa site in Prestatyn. We have a dedicated and consistent staff team. We offer daily healthy snack and outdoor play. We cover the seven areas of learning following the Foundation Phase. We are an English language playgroup and implement Cymraeg Bob Dydd.

We are registered with CSSIW and are inspected by CSSIW and Estyn

We currently hold a green in ITERS and ECERS. We have a Food Hygiene rating of 5.

We follow the Foundation Phase with 10 hours free provision available the term after your child’s 3rd birthday (please see below)  

Sessions start from £8.20 per session

Morning and afternoon sessions available and we are currently taking bookings for September 2017.

We work towards the 7 areas of learning using:-

  • Large Physical Play
  • Construction
  • Small World

Free places for Children (10 hours per week) are available

We have spaces available. If you have a child who is 3 before the end of December or before the Summer term, you are entitled to 10 hours free childcare each week. Please contact Playmates for more information on this.

Flying Start placements (12 hours per week)

If you live in a Flying Start area you may be entitled to 12 hours free provision when your child is 2 years old. Please contact Playmates for more information on this.

 


 

Meet the team

Lisa Oldroyd is an Assistant Playworker.

She has 9 years’ experience working in childcare settings. She has worked at Penmorfa Playmates for 3 years in a voluntary and paid capacity. She has a Cache NVQ Level 3 Childcare, Learning and Development. Her specialised role in the team is parent payments and she is also highly trained in one to one work. She holds nationally recognised up to date qualifications in Food Hygiene, Child Protection, Manual Handling, Makaton and First Aid. She is also qualified in Cache NVQ Level 3 Supporting Teaching and learning. She has completed an Early Year’s Welsh course.

Miriam Jones is an Assistant Playworker.

She has 15 years’ experience working with babies (in a day nursery) and recently in Playmates.She has worked at Penmorfa Playmates for six years in a voluntary and paid capacity. She has a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma Caring Services. Her specialised role in the team is one to one work . She holds nationally recognised up to date qualifications in Food Hygiene, Child Protection, Manual Handling, Makaton and First Aid. She has completed a basic Welsh course, Makaton, Elklan speech and language and Manual Handling. Miriam is a mum to three children.

Adele Collins is an Assistant Playworker.

She has 13 years’ experience working in childcare settings. She has worked at Penmorfa Playmates for 7 years in a voluntary and paid capacity. She has a Cache NVQ Level 3 Childcare, Learning and Development. She is a part time member of staff. She holds nationally recognised up to date qualifications in Food Hygiene, Child Protection, Manual Handling, and First Aid.
She has completed an Early Years Welsh course.

Sam Evans is an Assistant Playworker.

She gained her experience firstly as a mum to three children and then went on to volunteer in their school, qualifying as a Level 1 Teaching Assistant. She has worked at Penmorfa Playmates for six years in a paid capacity. She is about to finish her Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Learning Care and Development. Her specialised role in the team is Children’s Placement. She holds nationally recognised up to date qualifications in Food Hygiene, Healthy Snack, Child Protection, Manual Handling, and First Aid. She has completed an Early Years Welsh course.

Linda Forest is an Assistant Playworker.

She has worked in childcare for 30 years. She has worked at Penmorfa Playmates for nine months in a paid capacity. She is originally from Estonia where she graduated from Tallinn Pedagogical School, Estonia and got Kindergarten Teacher qualification. She worked in the Kindergarten for 16 years with children from 3-7 years.
She has since achieved a Cache Level 3 Extended Diploma for Children’s Care, Learning and Development. She also holds Cache Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning, First Aid, Safeguarding Level 2.
She has completed Intermediate Welsh course and is currently attending a Higher level course. She also has English language certificates in ESOL and GCSE.

Supply Staff

Clare Englishby is an Assistant Playworker

Clare has over 6 years experience of working within Early Years in private nursery’s and playgroups. Clare has a Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education and also a Cache Level 2 Certificate in The Children and Young People’s Workforce. She holds nationally recognised food and hygiene certificate, child protection and first aid. Clare also is a supervisor at Acrville playgroup in Rhyl and has a good knowledge and experience of working with children with additional learning needs. Clare is a mum of two sons.
