Attendance

Attending school regularly and punctually is very important and lessons begin promptly each morning.

Doors are normally opened from 8.45 a.m. and pupils are encouraged to take to their seats and start working quietly on their registration tasks once in class. However, during this uncertain time dealing with the affects of the Coronavirus pandemic we have made changes to the way we arrive and leave school:

If your child is unavoidably absent from school because of illness, injury or perhaps a significant religious occurrence, please telephone, Mrs Grimwood, our Attendance Clerk to inform us.  Mrs Grimwood is available to take your calls on 01745 852757 from 8.00am each day.

Alternatively, you can send a message via the website Contact page.

Once all of the attendance and absences have been input we will contact everyone who remains absent with no reason given.

For further information please refer to www.denbighshire.gov.uk/en/resident/education/attendance.aspx

All unexplained absences will be recorded as unauthorised.

If considering  requesting term time leave please remember:

Parents do not have an automatic right to withdraw a child from school for a holiday.
You must apply for permission in advance to the school. Absences which have not been agreed will be marked as unauthorised absence.

Following 3+ days of unauthorised absence parents may be invited to attend a meeting in school to put together an Attendance Support Plan with the aim to prevent further unauthorised absence.

A fixed Penalty Notice Warning letter may be issued at 5 days unauthorised absence, with the Fixed Penalty Notice being issued at 10 days unauthorised absence.
